Asked what the best part of the program had been, they pointed at the mentors and the quality of the feedback rather than at the competition: learning how the business process and the coding process actually fit together, and what goes into the software products they use every day.
Asked what they had learned about building software that they had not known beforehand, they talked about architecture and interface design - what makes an interface usable, and why efficiency and performance decide whether somebody keeps using a product or switches to something else.
